Young Again Low Carb Cat Food

Thread Status:
Not open for farther replies.
  1. My cat has been diabetic for well-nigh a year and through this website and forum, I have learned SO much about diet, insulin, testing and the similar. I cannot believe what an amazing resource this is.

Long story brusk...I take switched him to a nigh all moisture nutrient diet consisting of Fancy Feast Archetype (Chicken/Turkey varieties only) and Rad Cat raw food. The thing is he is still obsessed with wanting dry food. I have ii other cats, who can jump up loftier, (my diabetic cat has never regained enough forcefulness in his dorsum legs to try to leap on things now), and so I keep some dry food on meridian of the dog's crate for my one cat that tolerates dry out nutrient. The thing is, my diabetic cat can smell it and will just sit in the office begging for some. I bought what I idea was a expert dry to give him a few kibbles as a care for. Thing is, it is loftier in carbs and when I test his BG levels, I can literally see the spike from this dry food.

Tonight, I came beyond Young Once again Cipher Carb dry cat nutrient and it is very expensive. I accept no problem ownership this if information technology can satisfy my true cat and keep his claret sugar down, merely earlier I practise, I was hopefully for any opinions on this nutrient.

    Thank y'all!

  2. You lot have provided the ingredient list of the REGULAR cat food, not the zero carb. Here is the right ingredient list from http://www.youngagainpetfood.com/10browse.asp?category=cats&ProductCode=92100:
Chicken Meal, Pork Poly peptide Concentrate, Poultry Fat (Preserved
with Rosemary Extract, Mixed Tocopherols and Ascorbic Acid), Soya Oil, Fish
Oil, Herring Meal, Cellulose, (Source of Dietary Fiber), Fructooligosaccharides,
Natural craven season, L-Lysine, Guar Gum, DL Methionine, Kokosnoot oil, Yeast, Yeast extract,
Calcium carbonate, Taurine, 50-Threonine, Fifty-Tryptophan, Common salt, Dicalcium Phosphate,
L-Carnitine, Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Product Dehydrated,
Enterococcus Faecium Fermentation Product Dehydrated, Stale Bacillus Subtilis
Fermentation Extract, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Fermentation Product Dehydrated,
Mixed Tocopherols, Rosemary Extract, Zinc Proteinate, Yucca Schidigera Extract,
Choline Chloride, Vitamin Due east Supplement, Magnesium Proteinate, Betaine Anhydrous,
Ferrous Sulfate, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Niacinamide, D-Biotin, Manganous
Sulfate, Vitamin A Acetate, Copper Proteinate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Folic Acid,
Riboflavin, Calcium Pantothenate, Sodium Selenite, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride,
Calcium Iodate, Calcium Propionate, N, N-Dimethylglycine (DMG) HCI, D-Activated Animal Sterol (Source of Vitamin D3), Cobalt Sulfate.Neither do the freeze dried treats you recommend. In fact, their moisture content is even lower than nearly dry foods.
  3. I take a like consequence with my civvie who just will do anything for kibbles. I came up with this solution that may work for you. It's Stella & Chewy's freeze stale raw food. It's supposed to exist rehydrated with water, simply I serve information technology dry and it gives a bit of crisis that my girlie wants.

While this is way better than feeding kibbles (dry nutrient), it is intended to accept water added (which mine won't consume that style) and I feed this in conjunction with canned (water added) nutrient. It satisfies the desire for crunchies without feeding dry food and giving her the unwanted calories and bad ingredients in dry out food - brand sense?

Here is the cheapest place online that I've found it. Yep, it is pricey, but at least it's low carb raw diet (while pretending to be a dry kibble).... ;-)

    http://world wide web.petfood.com/item/stella-and- ... od/498360/

If you lot buy 2 or more it's even less expensive.

  4. Can you but feed all your cats canned food? Is one or both of them being stubborn? If so, accept you seen these for your other two cats: http://catinfo.org/#Transitioning_Dry_Food_Addicts_to_Canned_Food_? Even depression carb dry food can keep a diabetic cat'due south BG high. Also, I highly uncertainty that nutrient is cipher carb since information technology contains cellulose (woods pulp) every bit the binding amanuensis--nosotros calculate carbs equally a percentage of calories, where they are probably rounding downwardly the dry weight carb value. Wysong was claiming the same thing with their Epigen dry nutrient but so refused to release the equally-fed values. So don't trust that information technology's zero carbs just because the pet food visitor says s0--they aren't measuring the carbs the same fashion we do here.

Information technology would exist healthier (and far, far cheaper) to switch all your cats to a low carb canned food, where you lot accept a ton of options.

  5. Now that nosotros've given you the BEST route of NO dry nutrient, I'll chance getting something thrown at me...KT's the same way about dry food. He literally goes on 'hard food chants' and will completely reject to eat ANYTHING until he gets dry food. I tried waiting him out, refusing, I Tin 'make him' eat merely soft by only not serving it but when he's on one of his rants, he'll accept a couple of bites and walk away hollering. He'southward gone as long equally a whole twenty-four hours refusing to eat anything if it wasn't dry - can't have that. And then...there IS an 8% carb dry called 'EVO Cat & Kitten'. I can give him ten-12 pieces on summit of soft food which feeds his 'hard food' addiction and doesn't spike him BG. I wouldn't fifty-fifty consider making it a full time thing - one pocket-size about 4lb. bag will concluding u.s. a couple of months at least. It doesn't spike KT.....hither'southward a link to more info:

    EVOPet Website

    Now I'll duck............ :daze:

  6. The Evo Cat & Kitten is what my civvie gets, Sparky will non touch wet food, and this is grain free, and 7% carbs, or so it says, information technology sounds skillful, ingredients sound skillful....and he likes information technology, his fur has gotten much softer since switching to this.

The website I establish a little confusing, simply information technology is all there to read!

I similar the trick of the dry out on top of the wet, maybe I can switch him over that way...with a few dry in the middle....sneaky!!!!!

  7. Wellness CORE is also a low-carb, grain-free dry food. Erik is another one who won't eat unless he has a little dry sprinkled on top of his wet food. Hither are the ingredients:

Deboned Turkey, Deboned Craven, Chicken Repast, Whitefish Meal, Herring Meal, Peas, Turkey Meal, Potatoes, Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), Tomato Pomace, Natural Chicken Flavor, Ground Flaxseed, Cranberries, Chicory Root Extract, Choline Chloride, Salmon Oil, Vitamins [Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Beta-Carotene, Vitamin A Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin, Vitamin D-3 Supplement, Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Folic Acid, Biotin, Ascorbic Acrid (Vitamin C)],Minerals [Zinc Proteinate, Zinc Sulfate, Iron Proteinate, Ferrous Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Manganese Sulfate, Sodium Selenite, Calcium Iodate], Taurine, Mixed Tocopherols added to preserve freshness, Dried Kelp, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Dried Lactobacillus plantarum Fermentation Product, Dried Enterococcus faecium Fermentation Product, Stale Lactobacillus casei Fermentation Production, Dried Lactobacillus acidophilus Fermentation Product, Rosemary Extract.

  8. Boo loves both the v% and zero-carb varieties of Young Again. While the prednisone is making it incommunicable to become his BG downwardly, this food has made a big divergence to his overall condition (he refuses to reliably eat enough wet nutrient to run across his body's needs, one of the factors involved in his recent bout of liver affliction & the feeding-tube necessity). He'due south looking potent and shiny again on this diet. Nosotros're hoping we'll exist able to keep him on information technology, in spite of the price and loftier aircraft cost to Canada, as we go on to taper off the steroids (though nosotros fabricated need to switch him to a novel-poly peptide food, like Ziwipeak, if his IBD doesn't stay controlled without prednisone). If your cat is a committed dry out-food eater, I'd definitely recommend Young Once more.
  9. I know this is an old postal service simply I am but reading about this immature once again no carb cat food. Has anyone tried this since the original mail in 2012?? I don't concur with the feeding instructions but I like the zero carb
  10. I tin let you know in a few days. I take a bag getting delivered tomorrow. nosotros tried some costless samples and it was the only time my cat'due south numbers were under 200. I figured it'southward worth a endeavour. she will still get her fancy banquet classic also.
  11. Hi Heather,

We've used Young Again cypher carb. If we have to leave for an extended menstruum of time, we don't have anyone who tin can come in multiple times a day to feed canned food. In those cases, we leave out Young Once more. The cats like information technology a lot, and, knock on forest, information technology hasn't seemed to affect Jersey'southward numbers. Of grade, we only accept to practise it a couple of times a year.

    Hope that helps.
    Shelly

  12. I am going to call tomorrow and encounter if they will send a sample. I have 3 cats. 2 overweight and 2 skinny diabetic. Maybe information technology could aid all three and keep my diabetic from sneaking the dry food. The dry food for the other ii is urinary tract formula simply from what I read it may assist with that too.
  13. Information technology is very high calorie so be conscientious with chubby cats ... information technology is 0 digestible carbs....it is a decent product I tried it with both of mine and at starting time they nibbled merely then I did tight reg so I take to do all wet just at present the civvie won't swallow information technology?
If I had dry addicts I would employ it tho-
  14. I didn't realize it was high in calories. My skinny true cat needs the calories but not the chubbys
  15. My experience with Zip Carb has been good. I recommend information technology as an option for those kitties who demand something crunchy. It is not spiking the blood sugar of either of my diabetic cats, BUT I DO Not FEED IT EXCLUSIVELY. It is merely a safe cyberspace food for overnight and for the "crunchy crankies". My cats eat primarily a good wet food.
  16. so far then good with this food at my business firm. This is mean solar day four on this food here, and she loves information technology. I'm still giving some wet food at preshot times, but honestly she'due south more interested in this food.
  17. I'm waiting for my free sample hopefully it comes this calendar week
  18. Has anyone researched the lowest cost depression carb dry food. With two cats the prescription stuff gets expensive fast.
  19. A lot of people apply the fancy feast pâté my true cat won't touch it. That is way cheaper than the prescription food

As a supplement, you might use freeze-dried chicken or other protein - I use some Pure Bites and beat out them into bits to sprinkle over the canned food. Information technology isn't a consummate diet in itself, merely may exist used judiciously to encourage eating.
  21. I put mush on it & he loves information technology., it can stay in the dish fresh for ten days. Your other cats may like it & you can switch all of them. Mush absolutely loves it! He gets both wet & dry.
  22. my gratuitous sample came yesterday!! I tried to give it as a treat last night and my fatty ate everybody's. Going to endeavour again today for bedtime snack and hopefully my diabetic will swallow it. in fact possibly i will mix some in with the wet food tonight for Paris. Her food canned nutrient pick isn't the greatest ff gravy lover's just at least it's not higher menu dry out food and I tried to supplement some meals with boiled chicken to keep the carbs downwards
  23. Hello Heather,

My 13 year old kitty Fendi was diagnosed in May and this website has helped tremendously. This is the kickoff time I have posted because I desire to tell you my experience with Young Again Zip Carb Mature. It has been a lifesaver. Fendi and her brother Calvin have eaten dry food only their entire lives. She has always loved to eat. When she was diagnosed I thought how happy she was going to be to get to eat wet food from at present on. Still, she wouldn't touch information technology. I tried all the tricks people listed here and nothing worked. I was pulling my hair out. Her blood brother loved information technology, unfortunately. Long story short I ordered the gratuitous sample and she liked it. Her brother kept begging for moisture food. I ordered a full bag and slowly incorporated it into her diet (had been using low carb Ultimate Protein dry out food). Then I went forward with the free feeding manner of feeding them both that the visitor recommends because I travel alot but only need someone to give her insulin every other solar day. Her demand for insulin went down from ii units every 12 hours to one/two unit every eighteen to 24 hours. Her bg never gets higher up 200 fifty-fifty at the 24 hour mark and I tin can't assistance only attribute it to the zero carb food. Then, for me, it seems to be helping tremendously. And her brother seems to have adjusted to it. They aren't overeating at all and are acting happy and appear to experience swell. I don't put their nutrient bowls in different rooms liked the company suggests, though. I use cake pans every bit their bowls.

I will add that the merely negative is that their poop smells terrible at present. And both had looser stool/diarrhea at starting time. It is getting better, but still not like information technology used to be. Luckily my litter box is out on my balcony or I don't call back I could handle the smell. Although admittedly I am sensitive to smells.

I wish you the best and hope the Young Again nutrient works for you.

  24. WOW!! That is groovy news. I have mine ordered hope it helps. Paris will eat wet food but only with the gravy making it loftier carbs!
  25. My girl is still loving this nutrient. As you can see from her ss (the blackness line indicating when I started the food) there have been NO pink or red spikes mid day at all since starting it. The ss looks very different from the days above the line.
    yukon25 and Mshaas75 like this.
  26. So I have a question. If I start free feeding this food how do I know if she ate enough to shoot
  27. I free feed YA, but in a smaller dish than what they recommend, and I endeavour to put out about 1/3 cup at a time. And so I just go along an heart on it throughout the day. Unremarkably it'south adequately empty at pre-shot time and I refill after testing, then watch Plum eat (he's never had a problem with eating, lol!) Typically he will munch a bit, then I give him his shot & he'll return to the dish.
  28. I still give a one-half can of fancy feast before shooting, and always test her numbers before shooting. Then I have the ya out to graze on whenever she wants. The ya hasn't fabricated her bg rise at all.
    PlumsMom and Mshaas75 like this.
  29. I have found that the Young Again doesn't seem to affect her bg at all. When I started her on the nutrient, I did a few glucose curves to see how she did. Within a couple of days her bg got lower and lower and I reduced the dosage. The curves became very steady. Eating didn't cause whatever spikes, then now I but cheque her bg at the 12 hr marks and shoot or don't shoot. It has pretty much become ane/2 unit every 24-hour interval and a half/36 hours every bit her bg slowly creeps upward. I don't take to worry about making sure she ate right before giving her a shot.
  30. Yes, I'm on my 3rd purse, but I give wet food 3 times a day, & go along the young once more out all day for Mush to nibble on when he is hungary!
    yukon25 and Mshaas75 like this.
  31. I gave YA and my boy loved it but had severe diarreah Emailed the visitor and they say it eventually stops. Non for my boy. Stinky and runny for weeks now. Anyone ever try fresh pet grain free chicken food? Got a sample and he loves it. Not certain if any good though for diabetic?
  32. I have been doing young over again with canned and boiled chicken. I get out out the YA all the time. Sometimes soft stools but I haven't seen diarrhea. I oasis't heard of the other food
  33. I'thou not familiar with that one. I tried to look it up, merely wasn't sure which 1 you lot're talking nigh. Do you take a link to it?
  34. I went on the website. Fresh Pet Grain Free True cat Food. It is refrigerated in the pet store. I bought Fresh Pet Grain Free Vital Craven Cat Food.
  35. I have had the aforementioned trouble, actually. I have both of my cats gratuitous feeding Young Again (Fendi is diabetic, Calvin is not) and they both seem to be eating information technology well. Only they did take diarrhea at outset pretty badly. Over the grade of eating simply YA for near a full month now, they are getting improve. It all the same isn't like pre-YA, but definitely getting improve every twenty-four hour period. Occasionally there is totally normal poop in the box. Just the smell is bad. Luckily my box is on my porch or I don't think I could stand it.
  36. My litter box is within. Lol. Stinky. But I have been feeding FF Classics twice a solar day and leave YA out while I work. I'll give it a little more time.
  37. Be careful with this food. Recently they have changed their recipe to Pork meal equally the first ingredient. I was feeding this to them for well-nigh 5 months fine until this final purse. More than than halfway through both our cats got very bad diarrhea and took me several days to pinpoint information technology to the food. In one case I switched them back to Nature'southward Diversity information technology stopped a day later. Nature'due south variety raw boost chicken has 12.5% carbs, all are simple carbs. Our 1 reverted cat eats this and fancy feast pate'south that are about iii % carbs. This feeding gets her simply under x% and that has worked well. I tried to go a stride further with young again but won't purchase it again after this. It would also exist prissy of them to inform customers of the ingredient changes instead of just sneaking them in hoping nobody volition notice.
  38. I had a bad feel with YA zero carb too and it was contempo. Ii cats had very bad diarrhea. Now I know why. thanks!
  39. I heard that after a few weeks the diarrhea goes away but I accept the aforementioned trouble. I ordered the fortiflora to sprinkle on her food supposed to assist with diarrhea and makes the food taste better
  40. My cat had diarrhea for like two days at first (more but soft stool) and then once about a calendar week into it... I think she over ate that day. No problem since and then though.
  41. my beloved Peyton (photo) fought and won confronting mast cell tumor cancer, going thru chemo for about a year.. the steroids they gave him sadly made him accident up fat. Now, the poor boy has diabetes from this :'( Has been on Lantus 5 units for almost two months, but not getting anywhere.. Got the large size of the Young Once again as I was told by them that Peyton'southward 3 brothers can eat it also. Well, I started out but for a few days giving them YA as a treat (20? pieces) and now they are ALL sick. And so am I, and then stressed out from this I tin can't take information technology. You lot all know how much the love for our kits are, luckily nosotros take a very caring vet, who does anything she can to help us. Will exist speaking to her once more today. Even my huge Maine Coon, Couper, who always has a very firm stool, sometimes to the point I would have to give him cat lax, had diarrhea yesterday. I am doing the gut supplements from Merely Natural Pet.

Was reading on here about the EVO, am going to prob. go that to assist very slowly transition them over from the Pure Vita they were on, which has a higher carb content to EVO, then maybe put a couple kibbles of Young Again in each day so their tummies become used to information technology. The two boys who are not having any medical bug Dear moist nutrient, Peyton, the diabetic/cancer survivor takes a few bites, tries to bury it, then gets diarrhea from information technology. No matter what good brands I go for them. Peyton's older brother, Eli, is hypothyroid, and on meds for that.

Help me, help me assistance me... for I am going crazy. Oh, and all the while this is going on, I am trying to recover from my 54th (non a typo) surgery and am sick myself but my kits are what keeps me going and they come outset.
    Thank you all

  42. Hi Terri, sorry you're having such trouble with foods. I recall it's a good thought to transition to any new food slowly. You may too want to add together some Florastor probiotic to their diets-information technology helps with diarrhea.
  43. Hi Sharon, thanks for the answer, beauty kitty you lot have! I spoke with the Young Again person and she blamed me completely proverb that all my cats are ill (I have 4) considering I gave them some kibbles to try (from the sample bag) before I bought the huge handbag that I just had opened all the same. I felt like I was/am killing my cat. Only spoke with my vet and she said take them downward to the EVO, every bit they have been on that before, and it has fifty-fifty been improved since I had an overweight issue with them all a few years dorsum. The carb content of the Craven/Turkey EVO dry out is eight.4%, and then I am to bring him in side by side calendar week for a full blood workup/levels, etc.

Is the offset of kitty diabetes this difficult? Or am I totally losing my mind... I dearest my kits so much, I get them anything they need, simply I feel similar I am failing horribly hither. :'( thanks again

  44. Hi Terri,

Oasis't anything to add in terms of advice or suggestions but I but want to say that I actually experience for you and to send you these ...

:bighug: :bighug: :bighug: :bighug: :bighug: :bighug:

    Mogs
    .

  45. In the beginning I think nosotros've all felt like you lot do now, but information technology does go easier. I retrieve you're doing an amazing job with Peyton, taking care of him through all his illnesses while going through all that you have. You're a dandy cat mom!:bighug:
  46. I'1000 glad I'm not the only one that is having bug with YA. Ben's been eating it for ii years but this final bag made him and the other cats that snack on information technology sick. All three were retching upwards clear foamy stuff. After treating all for reflux, I took away the YA and everyone is better.

Unfortunately I need a dry out food to leave out for Ben to snack on when I'g at piece of work. I'chiliad trying Evo but information technology seems to have messed with his sugars. His numbers are higher than they've been in a long time.

I'yard hoping that it will settle downward once he gets used to it.

  47. This concluding bag may accept been what made 1 of mine have diarrhea for a calendar week. Didn't seem to event the others though.
  48. cheers all... my eye is breaking looking at my Peyton, trying to walk, and then thinking this YA food would do the job, just got him and his iii brothers Ill.. so far the EVO is doing them well,, Peyton going dorsum to the vet for a blood test (testing my vets auto confronting mine once again-she is then caring she does not even accuse me!) This little male child fought and trounce cancer now this. It truly fabricated me so depressed to run into this happen. I am sure you all have gotten the "its just a cat" comment, of which I smacked the person so difficult they went down to the ground. Don't be talking about my kit!! Or yours!! :) Then, as soon as the YA was stopped, so was the diarrhea, plus I have added the metronidazole.

Thanks for being at that place for us, for I surely am non handling this very well at all, and Patie does not know what the hell is happening to him :(

  49. I started feeding Immature Again Zero Carb Mature to my ii Norwegian Forest True cat littermates in the summer of 2015 when I read about information technology on this forum. One true cat was diabetic and had been skinny her whole life, while the other was not diabetic and was somewhat overweight. They were both 12 years old.

My diabetic cat Anecdote was able to go off insulin in about a calendar month. We had been giving 7 to ix units of ProZinc twice a day for a few months prior on the dry out prescription diabetes food, but she wasn't well controlled. She loved the YA nutrient and finally started gaining weight. I call up she had been moving towards diabetes for a few years prior to her diagnosis, every bit she was hungry all the time and ate a lot merely never actually gained weight. The vet had blamed her slightly higher claret saccharide readings at her twice a twelvemonth checkups on being "nervous due to beingness at the vet's function," although the other cat ever had normal readings and was even more than shy (and therefore, nervous at the vet).

Chestnut did well on YA until a few months ago when she stopped eating it. She gradually showed less and less interest in food and went from 16 pounds to 11 pounds very quickly. I said cheerio last week when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that had metastasized. I don't think it was the YA food, although she yet showed an involvement in people food (similar milk and craven) up until her last day.

My non-diabetic cat did not do well on the YA nutrient at all. She lost most of the fur on her nose and some on her chin and ears. She developed runny eyes and sneezed more. She as well lost some weight (from 16 pounds to about xiii), but she isn't diabetic and was overweight. I wrote the company about a possible allergy, merely I didn't get a very satisfactory response. In August I took her to my vet because she couldn't walk without falling over, and she was diagnosed with ii inner ear infections. I think she is finally on the mend after several weeks of antibiotics, and her fur that she lost is growing back since I've switched her to a express ingredient food past Nature's Diverseness. I don't know if the ear infections were caused past allergies that resulted from the YA nutrient, but she got down to nether 10 pounds, which is modest for a big brood cat.

Then in sum, the YA food gave my Anecdote i more yr OTJ where she was able to consume all she wanted and gain weight. I never was able to get her to consume wet food. I call back I would buy it again for a diabetic cat who won't eat something better, but then again, I won't ever feed another true cat dry food if I can help it. I wouldn't personally recommend it to not-diabetic cats if there is an alternative, but I know in multiple cat households, it'due south and then hard to keep one out of the other's food bowls and therefore is easier to feed them even so food. My instance might be unique; my not-diabetic cat had never shown show of food allergies before, and it may have been something that adult with age. She will exist 14 in a few months, and she is a purebred cat.

  50. She probably had a pork allergy. Patently if at that place's an allergy information technology would not be a good selection. I don't feed it exclusively but information technology is available to all 7 of my cats in add-on to wet food and not have had a problem.
  51. HeLLLLP dear friends!!!! I am literally losing my mind over this. My boy takes a couple bites of moist nutrient (I had the Instinctive Selection-what appears to be a practiced food) for him, then tries to bury information technology. But thing I can get him to consume is the EVO turkey/craven dry. He drinks sooooo much h2o, peeees alot. I give him shots of B-12 and I noticed the next day he is walking better. I will be talking to the vet tomorrow. Its been too frigid common cold to take him out. He is overweight. Not skinny. Once he got the steroid shots from his chemo treatments the male child blew up inside two weeks. I do not know what to exercise. Should I effort the Fancy Feast? I recall I saw on the list that the turkey was the lowest, and I take ever fed my kits poultry, equally the beef always seems to be too rich. I am then upset, he is my best lilliputian friend, and I feel I am losing him. That purina DM has more carbs in information technology than the EVO. Should I get some Fancy Banquet or keep the Instinctive Choice and put the dry EVO kibbles in at that place to transition? I don't know. How could I take gotten him through mast jail cell tumor cancer only to have this happen! I don't want to lose my infant, I keep thinking this volition exist his last Christmas with me and I love him and then very much.

He can't take pork, and then that may be why he got and so extremely sick for over a calendar week, and prob. would still exist had I non taken it up.

Any suggestions, please let me know, I am staying out of the hospital as I am afraid to leave my male child. Give thanks you lot all, will bank check in the morning. Gonna cry myself to slumber.

  52. Also, I have the huge bag of Young Again, I contacted the company to send it back, withal if someone would like to purchase information technology cheaper than buying it new (I think simply two-iii cups taken out of there-that was enough to make them so sick) but for those of you that it works, if you are willing to pay aircraft and three/4 of the big bag cost, I'd rather help you all out as you accept united states of america. XOXO let me know ok?
  53. for what its worth-1 of mine likes to "bury" his food before and/or later he eats it....as well many cats like to graze, mine swallow a few bites and crumb throughout the day. There is a pretty good list of wet nutrient nether ten% carb-
  54. The most important matter is that he'll swallow....All the Fancy Feast Classics are depression carb enough for our kitties.....it'south not necessarily whatsoever better to accept the lowest carb percentage....every bit long equally it'due south beneath 10%, that'southward what's important unless your true cat is actually carb sensitive. A lot of us feed Friskies pates as well, and so only observe foods that your kitty likes and don't cause him any problems!

The steroids he had to have during the cancer treatment were probably very important at the time....yes, they can cause diabetes, but with the help of the wonderful people here, yous'll be able to help your extra sweet kitty live as long every bit possible!

Diabetes isn't a death sentence.....unfortunately, too often, cancer is

  55. Peyton died on Fri, January 13th, with my arms wrapped around him, his vet was so gentle.

Over the night, the neuropathy got worse and his dorsum end was completely non working and he was trying to employ his little front legs to pull himself around. He could not brand information technology to the box, he concluded upward just urinating where he lay. That was just too much pain for him, if I tried to touch his back leg, he yowled in pain. Nosotros knew it was time. I am then upset, I cannot alive without him. So depressed all i am doing is sleeping as much as I can. Every bit I am rather new here, can someone tell me where to find the info. on how the neuropathy from diabetes causes this, mayhap information technology may make me feel a bit better if I understand. I am SICK. I lost my best friend, the cat who knew when it was 8 pm as he would go to the edge of the bedroom door, sit and yowl until I came and then he spent the night on my lap. Now that lap is cold and I wish I could be with him as he made me and so happy.

If I posted this is the wrong place, please alibi me, I do not know if I am coming or going. All I know is that I experience similar I am expressionless inside right now as well. Thank you dear friends

  56. Oh Terri, I am and so very sad. Your love for sweet Peyton showed through in your posts, and you proved that dear by giving him the terminal, most loving, unselfish gift y'all could. I hope that you will find peace. Wing Complimentary Sweet Peyton, Country Softly:rb_icon:
  57. I'chiliad so sorry that you lost your lovely boy. You did absolutely everything you could to help him. :bighug:
  58. Sending purrs and prayers.. Information technology is always heard to say farewell.
  59. I'k then sorry. That was incredibly selfless to permit him go peacefully. I know all too well the pain of losing a fur babe.
  60. So pitiful for your loss :(
  61. I'm then deplorable Terri. Wing free sweet Peyton, and land softly across the Bridge.

    :bighug: :bighug:

  62. I knew that eventually I will lose my cats due to age, disease, etc, only had NO idea how much this would result me. I accept but been sitting my my room with the door closed, crying nonstop, sick to my tum. I practise have three other cats, but Peyton was a very unique cat, very smart. I could non believe when I got the letter that he was clear of cancer, then the diabetes comes. Are they continued? Is there someone out at that place I can speak to so I can assistance to empathize WHY this happened. Why does the neuropathy come along with the diabetes? How does information technology cause the paralysis? My head is spinning, I feel similar I am never going to go over this never never never!!!!!! I loved him like a son, I have no homo kids so he is my smart human kid. He fifty-fifty slightly caput bumped me when he was on the vets table, but I could tell he did not feel good.

Has anyone used or know of a pet loss grief place? I have tried 2, and i called me back, and he just had a few minutes to speak, nice guy but all he told me to do is go see my doctor. MY md won't give a rat'due south behind about losing my pet. I need the PET grief ones. I am alone, family gone, and I just cannot accept this any longer.

    xOXOXO to you all

  63. I also feel and so guilty. Like I did not exercise enough for him. He did not like moist food; would requite him the runs. I have the biggest handbag of YA food sitting hither that I have to send back to them soon for a refund. Its the biggest sized bag, and at that place was just about a cup of it taken out. I think it was $136 Don't know how much the shipping volition exist, every bit it is a huge purse, but if whatsoever of you are interested in information technology, please permit united states know. Its been sealed upward the whole time. Peyton ate information technology but the next day it gave him the worst diarrhea ever and had to take him to get fluids. Then I found out information technology had pork in it and he never did well on pork. Allow me know if anyone is interested ok? from Peyton and Terri
  64. There's a grief back up forum here on FDMB. The people in that location might exist able to help you. :bighug:
  65. Then sorry to hear it was Peyton'south time to leave you lot Terri :bighug: :bighug: :bighug: :bighug: :bighug:

No thing how long we have them, it's never long enough

It sounds like information technology's possible that he threw a blood jell and if that'south what happened, in that location was really nothing y'all could do to prevent or alter it. We've had a few kitties here that have passed from saddle thrombosis ....in that location's normally no warning signs either (and being cats, they're really practiced at hiding any signs of sickness anyway)

There are some Pet Grief support groups you could bring together....perchance that will aid you through the pain yous're feeling correct now
Wing free sweet Peyton and state softly....there are many at the Bridge to welcome you until the i you love well-nigh comes to be with you forever cat_wings>o

  66. so very sorry, until you meet again........:rb_icon:
  67. I'1000 so sorry for your loss...words can't practise much to fill up your empty lap, only know that so many of us have felt your pain and are grieving with y'all.
  68. I am so upset I totally forgot I put this info on hither already. I just posted a thread for my beloved Patie in another area. Delight excuse. I take been a zombie, not gone outside, not eating, sitting in my chair that Peyton and I would sit and slumber in together, now staring at the container that contains his ashes on the shelf straight across from me. How practice yous even get over this.....
  69. So sorry to hear this, Terri. I merely joined this forum, hence my tardily response. You sound like a wonderful mom -- don't blame yourself. How are your babies doing now?
  70. Thank yous all for your feedback. I was about to lodge YA, only am glad I saw the caution most the ingredients being changed with the result several folk seem to be having trouble with diarrhea. Besides the attitude of the customer service person does not sound helpful. I did not order -- for now anyway.
  71. Only i of my 7 can't eat it, and i doesn't like dry out. I also put out evo.
  72. :'( My precious babe Peyton with the big round optics pictured at left, had to be sent to the Bridge on Jan. 13th, 2017. I am miserable without him. I cry daily for him. He was my best friend who slept on my lap every nighttime, now I can't sleep at all. I have iii other boys, that I do dearest alot, but they are their ain selves, sometimes so aloof, just being cats. My Peyton was a loving person who literally took my hands each night in his paws and we slept that way. I don't know if this grief is e'er going to get better, its been a couple months and I don't feel any better. This boy went through then much, the chemo, then the diabetes. The vet said he "threw a clot" whatever that ways. Can someone let me know what that means if you know? I do know my boy on his last day was in terrible pain that I could non control, and the vet promised me she would tell me when it was time. She did. I want him back, only salubrious. That won't happen. I am so depressed, I can't eat, don't want to become out and exercise anything etc. since I lost my best friend. I have medical problems to the point that I had home health care come to the house and they did an EKG. Information technology showed old in the past iii months I had a moderate heart attack. Obviously not super bad or I'd be dead and hopefully with my Peyton in Heaven, only I told the physician it is a eye attack from a broken eye of losing him.
  73. Oh Terri Drennen, I am and so so then and then sorry to hear virtually your baby Peyton and nearly how much pain you're in. My centre goes out to you, crying as I read yous, as I -- and and then many others on this board I'thousand certain -- completely understand and empathise with your heartache as this is so much a role of our lives. Nix we tin can say tin can quite make the pain go abroad. I found it helped a teeny weeny bit when my Socks died (my infant that I brought to the U.s. all the way from India) to try and focus on how lucky she and I had been, both of u.s.a., to be able to share our lives for so many years, and dearest and savor each other unconditionally for so long. What a rare treasure that is, that darling Peyton and you got to be with each other at the same moment of space and time :)! It besides helps to know you gave him the best possible life you could, that you lot were the all-time mommie he could always take -- I know you were, your grief is testament to that. What a lucky baby he was to win you in the mommie lottery, you who tried to make his life the happiest yous possibly could. I wish I could run into yous just to hear stories near Peyton and grinning at his sweetness and silliness and to give you many hugs. Are you anywhere near Burbank? Sending then much love to y'all. I'll check in once more later. Please do accept care of yourself, dear Terri, both for yourself and all who dear y'all -- and for some other baby out at that place who may need you to light and love up his life too someday.
  74. Thanks, JanetNJ. Yous are a rich woman indeed, with 7 little ones! I'chiliad existence extra careful as the reason my Angel came out of remission was his very delicate stomach/IBD issues for which he had to go along steroids which brought the diabetes dorsum. Still. Might consider buying one of these days.
  75. I wish I were near y'all, but I am in very far NE Illinois, right on Lake Michigan. I would do anything, ANYthing, to bring him back to me. I feel similar: did I do this right? or wrong? I was having problems with the at dwelling house testing, so the vet was down the street, and she did it for me. I tin't bend downwardly, as I have had 54 surgeries and at the moment am one of the patients that accept the abdominal mesh disasters. My belly is huge & I can barely breathe. Makes me mad I was in the infirmary for so long last yr and missed that time with my male child, perhaps I could accept noticed this earlier, done something sooner. Now I am just crying and depressed without my little boy. He was my kid, I practise not have human kids, a blessing every bit my chronic wellness issues would not let me take care of them anyhow. Peyton had, as you can see, the biggest round eyes, and a "dished" little nose. Never saw one like that before. I know that he had medical issues from the onset, he would e'er get the feline 'colds' all the fourth dimension, the vet said not sure if it was the feline herpes or not. And so he got the mast cell tumor cancer, and I spent all I had to get him thru chemo, and I learned so much well-nigh feline nutrition, holistic stuff, etc. He came thru it peachy, I idea we were in for a long life together nonetheless. Then the damn diabetes got him, prob. from all the steroids as a office of the cancer handling. I am just ill about this, can't finish crying over him. I never will ever. Right now I merely hate waking up every day and realizing he is not here with me.
  76. run into I think it is those steroids that cause this, because Patie did not have this problem until the steroids were given. If only I had known
  77. 7 within and a TNR'ed colony of about 6-10 any given 24-hour interval outside. Lots of kitties effectually here.
  78. Many hugs, Terri. I'm and so very sorry. Don't feel guilty, nosotros all do what nosotros can within the concrete, financial, work etc. limitations that we have. You did all you lot could, and were the all-time mommie he could always have. So many hugs.
  79. That's nearly certainly true, Terri. Steroids ofttimes cause or bring back diabetes, as happened with my Angel (the diabetes came back). The vet had warned me this would happen, but nosotros actually did non have a choice equally the steroids were the only way we could save his life -- the other vet had basically said he was dying and pretty much written Angel off. I'chiliad guessing this might accept been true of your situation as well -- your baby had a lot of other health issues, at which point your choices are very very narrow. Don't beat yourself upwards over this. You lot did the best in the circumstances. Things might have been as bad or worse without the steroids.
  80. Phoebe had IBD for awhile. Only after putting her on steroids for pancreatitis did she develop FD. She was on them for 8 days. Now 3 months later still trying to get it under command. I only got my sample of YA. Volition use as treats for shots. Love and healing light to all your furbabies.
  81. Wish Phoebe and you lot the same :bighug:. Thank you.
  82. I'grand so so sorry to read about your kitty and all you've gone through. Sending you my wishes for peace and healing. I think we've all gone through something like this and it is never easy. I lost my previous kitty of 18 years a couple years dorsum and the pain was very real and I was so very heartbroken. There's a special bond that forms when we take been care takers of kitties with chronic illnesses that makes information technology so very difficult later on. My previous true cat had intestinal lymphoma and was on pred. She didn't develop diabetes but I was warned that information technology was possible. No ane knows a head of time which ones will and which ones won't. We make the all-time decisions we can at the time and with the information we have. I never thought I would heal from her passing but I did, and fourth dimension takes care of the intense pain we feel in the beginning. I participated in the Pet Loss grief forum and it was very helpful to me. It is a good forum with very nice people.
  83. I have been using it for a few months. My cats levels have went from the 300s to 60s. Its great stuff nonetheless he was a xvi lb cat and is limited to one/3 loving cup a solar day. He is always hungry and has diarreha (a problem with this food if he eats to much) its an on going trouble.
, the young again people keep telling me to reduce the food...he is now xiv lbs, simply nonetheless has the loose bowels and acts like hes starving all the time..so if ya dont mind stinky, runny stools it works. I am considering trying something else
  84. I'd add some ff to the diet equally well.
  85. I just received some young again Zero, for my new diagnosed cat. Maybe adept if he would eat it! He was on dry nutrient (Iams) all his life until this diagnosis, but easily transitioned to the l0w-carb canned nutrient. Nosotros'll see what happens when we're on holiday and the true cat-sitter cannot be here to keep upwardly our canned feeding schedule. (long story ... sometimes dry seems like the best of non bang-up options)
  86. Why the fancy banquet? Was it something your true cat ate before the YA? I thought about putting some of the dry out Hills prescript. Grand/D he was on before YA mixed in bcause it had a college fiber content and thought that might help.
  87. I'k not sure why Janet suggested y'all adding FF other than the fact that the Fancy Feast Classics canned food is low carb and what a lot of us feed our diabetic cats because it'south affordable and most cats love it!!

With diabetic cats, you desire to go as much h2o into them as possible and canned nutrient is much higher in water than any dry nutrient is. Kidneys are the weakest organs in Any cat....more and then with diabetics, so the more water y'all can get into them, the better.

YA is a depression carb dry, only there are skilful reasons not to use it either. Hither'due south a expert thread on "Dry out Food...Delight consider more than but carb content" written by the vet that posts here occasionally

Dry M/D is high carb so you don't desire to practise that. (information technology'southward likewise nevertheless dry)...I've seen several cats who had horrible diarrhea from the Young Again....it's very rich and some cats just can't tolerate it.

Is there a reason y'all are feeding the dry? If you can become your true cat onto low carb canned, information technology's meliorate all around.

  88. I starting using the YA zero mature because he has always eaten dry food and it has caused him to go into remission. He had just been diagnosed in june with diabetes...and i found YA online a few months ago, subsequently having him on the Hills prescript. With no success. He has never had to utilise insulin. What wet food would practise that? as far as the richness of YA, he has always had a steel gut, in fact final year nosotros had to have the vet give him an enema...he has gained back aafew pounds from when he started dropping pre-diagnosed wt. He is happy and more playful...he just has that darn soft stool. YA claims cats should have only 1 bm a day or every other day, he goes 2xs a 24-hour interval...poor Frank!
  89. You might try Dr. Elsey's Clean Protein....they take chicken and salmon flavor
YA is fabricated with pork and mayhap that's just not agreeing with him anymore?
  90. I suggested the first because it may exist more than filling and add necessary h2o to the nutrition. I do fancy feast twice a day (she eats about one-1.5 ounces each time) with added water and then free feed ya
  91. I feed my true cat FF and free feeding YA mature, she liked it but not also much like other dry food , simply as she asking always for dry out nutrient YA is an excellent choice. I only hate how small the kibble is. They should make information technology little bigger so the true cat tin chew it.
  92. I similar the small kibble... my true cat with missing dorsum teeth tin can swallow it. I effigy when it'due south big kibble and they bite it information technology probably breaks down to about the size of these kibble.
  93. A few questions. My kitties have been asking for their kibble ever since I took them off. I used to feed NVI 25% carb grain gratuitous. Then subsequently Oreo became diabetic I took them off all dry out and used only FF Classic. Then I gave in and ordered YA because of it'south claims of 0 carbs. Have I been fooled? The guaranteed assay says 54% crude protein, 25% crude fat and 1.5% rough fiber and on and on. It never lists carbs. Shouldn't it? Even if the content is 0 shouldn't information technology say that? A few of the ingredients worry me too. Brewers yeast flavoring and Brewers yeast. What are your thoughts about guar gum?
